AIRO was delighted to win two awards at the prestigious ANC Acoustics Awards 2023.  We won the Vibration Prediction and Control award as well as the Small Consultancy : The Patrick Shortt Award.

The Awards were presented at the ANC Annual Conference, on 20th September 2023 at the Crown Plaza, Birmingham, where the shortlisted entrants gave presentations to the gathered ANC members. The main award submissions were made prior to the event with judging panels made up of consultants, academics, suppliers and those with specialist knowledge of each award category.   The results were announced at a dinner that evening with the awards presented by Robin Ince (BBC Radio 4’s The Infinite Monkey Cage).

The Vibration Prediction and Control category award was for work measuring and assessing levels of vibration entering residential properties throughout London, typically located directly over or near an Underground Line, together with the collaborative design of innovative, tailored systems to reduce groundborne noise arising from the trains, resulting in a measurable improvement in experience for the residents.

The awards noted “This project has changed the perception of what can be achieved and given control to residents on what is acceptable with a solution that can be tailored to each property. It is practical and makes a real difference to those living over underground lines. The consultants were applauded for solving a problem that others might avoid and it is a clear winner of the vibration prediction, assessment and control category“.

The Small Consultancy : The Patrick Shortt Award was presented for the best overall project across all categories by any small consultancy.
